ORLEN Termika Silesia S.A.

ORLEN Termika Silesia SA from Jastrzębie-Zdrój is a company formed from the merger of two companies: PGNiG TERMIKA Energetyka Przemysłowa SA (the former Spółka Energetyczna “Jastrzębie” SA) and Przedsiębiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej SA. In 2016, it became part of the ORLEN Termika Capital Group.

The Company’s business profile is the production and sale of energy carriers for industrial purposes, offices, local government units, cooperatives, housing communities, as well as individual consumers. The core business is the generation and distribution of heat and electricity for industry and the inhabitants of ten municipalities in the Silesian Voivodeship, as well as the production of compressed air and cooling for mines.

The company holds licenses for the generation and trading of electricity and heat, the transmission and distribution of heat, and the distribution of electricity. It also holds a license for the exploration, evaluation, and extraction of methane occurring in the Krupiński coal deposits.

The company is a leader in the energy management of methane from mine de-methanation. It produces electricity, heat, and cooling in cogeneration and trigeneration for the industry, the inhabitants of Jastrzębie-Zdrój, and the surrounding area. Annually, it manages more than 60 million m³ of methane from mine de-methanation. This results in a significant reduction in its release into the atmosphere, thus a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of 770,000 tons per year.

The company was the first in Poland to build and launch (in 2000) a combined power and cooling system that forms the surface part of the central air-conditioning system of the Pniówek coal mine, which still produces cold in trigeneration.

The company also provides energy-related manufacturing and commercial services.

The structure of ORLEN Termika Silesia SA currently comprises 8 organizational units located in the Silesian Voivodeship, within which 13 generation facilities can be distinguished. Generation facilities include combined heat and power plants, heating plants, devices for the production of cold, compressed air plants, a mining plant, and gas-fired boiler plants.
